footnotes:
1. The Chinese painter must train with calligraphy and ancient literature. Education is important because the painter must write imaginative and beautiful poetry.
2. The traditional floral symbol of China, the state flower of Indiana, and the 12th wedding anniversary flower, peonies are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.
3. The plum blossom came to symbolize perseverance and hope, as well as beauty, purity, and the transitoriness of life. In Confucianism, the plum blossom stands for the principles and values of virtue.

Please read the earliest postings for more information about KC and her art.

(We also must advise readers of this website that we don’t sell online and ship art. Too many scammers!)

new paintings @ Sawdust 2013

Here are some of KC’s latest paintings. Many of them are displayed at Sawdust booth 235. Come see not only her specialty water colors but also oil paintings. As a Laguna Beach stalwart, she does plein air paintings and other local scenery. Her other oil-painting technique is to do the classical Chinese style; but instead of water color on rice paper, it is oil on black or white canvas (unframed). Something different!
